The Maze (Westworld)

This is a model of Westworld's "The Maze" which, in the show, represents a metaphorical journey inward towards consciousness, but is also glimpsed in varying physical forms throughout the show. This particular version, modeled in Rhino, shows up in the first season's finale as a toy that the characters interact with. Printed in Proto-pasta's magnetic iron PLA.

Shaving mug Fast Lather

This is a shaving mug that is for use with a badger brush. I wanted a mug that would lather quickly and be almost unbreakable, and this fit the bill.
I printed in clear PETG with 3 walls, .5 nozzle with .3mm layers. The print in the picture is printed scaled to .92% of the original. If you want it bigger then print it full size, but I think .92% is big enough for me.
I designed this in Sketchup and have uploaded the SKP file in the event that anyone wants to change it ( add a brush holder or something.)
I have been wet shaving for almost 3 years, and decided my stainless shaving bowl was just a tad too small and being smooth it was slow to lather. I don't know if PETG will stand the test of time, but if it fails me I'll update this summary. I think this would look aswome printed in ABS with an acetone vapor smoothing finish.
If you print this or use it please leave me a comment. I enjoy reading them, and it helps others who may be looking at this item.
I dropped this twice from counter height onto a marble floor and it suffered no damage, so i assume it would work well in the shower, if it gets dropped.

It's now been about a month and a half since T started using this every day. Now I don't think I'll ever buy another shaving mug ever again. This thing works great.
If I were to change anything about it, I'd make it a scuttle, and add a hot water chamber for heat retention. I can't seem to come up with a design for a one piece print with a chamber for hot water. If anyone wants to try it, that would be awesome.

shaving brush stand

This is a simple stand for shaving brushes. I made it for fit my Escali brush but im also providing the .scad file for easy editing to fit any size brush, but from my experience this will fit most brushes the way it is.

It prints on its back so support is not needed.

Sub 30$ 3D laser scanner Open harware/software project

*update
French calibration available on github https://github.com/Sardau/Sardauscan

update
http://www.instructables.com/id/Build-a-30-laser/
i've adden a instructable to explain how to build, calibrate and use the sardauscan.

update: V0.0.0.4 out : (much) faster better stronger

Sardauscan is a open source Sub 30$ 3D laser scanner that you can easely print yourself.

Even 12$ if you already have a hercule HD twist. I think we can say it's "the cheaper 3d scaner on earth"

you just need a arduino nano, 1 to 4 line laser and a micro geared stepper (28BYJ-48)
(see instruction for BOM)

no external power needed. just 2 free usb port on your pc : one for the webcam the other for the rest.

UPDATE
I’m proud to announce you the release of the open source Software for the “cheapest 3d scanner on earth” the 30$ DIY Sardauscan.

The software Is written in C# and allow you to compose your Scan task by drag and drop.

Recommended Process is composed from these scan
“Scan” => “IrQ filter” => “merge laser” (if you use more than one laser) => “Build Mesh by interpolation “ => “Save STL”.

But if you are not satisfied with the build-in processing task, or if you prefer use another heavy but powerful software to work with your point clouds like meslab or other,

you can just “Scan” => “Save Ply” and import them in your preferred application.

While the software come with a building support of the Sardauscan hardware, and usb camera. You can easely write your own Hardware proxy via plugins.

You can event build your own task to insert in your scan process.

Source Code : https://github.com/Sardau/Sardauscan

real time scan video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPb-gEVkBYo
postprocessing start @ 1:50, if you want to see the speed of post processing (smooth, mesh reconstruct, and stl generation )

BabyNES Raspberry Pi B+ case

Update (2/7/2015): By popular demand, I've opened the vent holes for those who are overclocking (and possibly using the Pi 2). The cart lid has also been fixed to add more support around the connectors.

This is an NES-styled case for the Raspberry Pi B+ and Raspberry Pi 2 Model B. It is inspired by http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:307832 but is a complete re-design from scratch as it only worked with the Raspberry Pi B.

USB/Ethernet are mounted in front and MicroSD card is out the back.
The case is held together with 4x #4-40 1" machine screws.

Complete parts list (with links to Amazon.com):

Raspberry Pi 3 (Recommended)
Sandisk 64GB MicroSD Card
MicroUSB charger for Raspberry Pi 3
Note: These are the parts I used and are guaranteed to fit. Others will probably work too.
